EXHUMATION OF THE REMAINS OF VICTIMS KILLED IN THE PAST WAR WAS CARRIED OUT IN PRIJEDOR

Exhumation was carried out at three locations in the municipality of Prijedor, under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH. The remains of two persons, presumed to belong to Bosniak victims, were exhumed. The identity of the victims shall be determined by subsequent analysis.

In the process of tracing and identifying the missing at the first location - the site of the burial ground Kevljani, no human remains were found. Complete remains of one person were exhumed at another location in the village of Kozaruša II- the locality of Deumići while in the settlement of Hambarine - Brdjani incomplete remains of one person were uncovered.

Following the recovery, the skeletal remains were transported to the Office in Šejkovača - Sanski Most, for further forensic processing and DNA analysis aiming to establish the identity of the war crimes victims.

The process of exhumation was coordinated by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH  who was on the scene and the whole exhumation process was attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist and police officers of the RS MoI who have investigated the scene and secured the location.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other law enforcement agencies and institutions involved in the process of tracing and identifying the missing persons, continues to work in the process of tracing and exhuming the remains of war crimes victims in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
