BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE NOTIFIED OF DISCOVERY OF REMAINS IN BRČKO AREA

On 7 August 2026, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was informed by the Police of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina that, due to the receding of the Sava River and the reduction of the water level, mortal remains - bones of unknown origin - were observed in the area of Brčko, near the Sava Bridge and in the vicinity of the Border Crossing. A pathologist’s examination has preliminarily established that the bones are of human origin. As this case required urgent action, due to the danger that the bones could disappear when the water level returned, the duty judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was informed about the case and a verbal order was issued to guard and secure the site. Activities have been initiated in order to carry out the process of exhuming the remains as soon as possible and sending them for further forensic and medical processing in order to establish the identity of the person to whom the found remains belong.

EXHUMATION CARRIED OUT AT LAV CEMETERY IN SARAJEVO

Acting upon the order of the prosecutor in charge of this case, an investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes led the exhumation process, which was carried out at the Lav Cemetery in Sarajevo. In the course of three days, mortal remains of several persons were found in unmarked places and in the space between graves, and they were transported to the Ossuary in Miljevići, East Sarajevo, where forensic and medical processing will be carried out and identities of the missing persons will be determined through DNA analysis. The exhumation process was conducted with the participation of a forensic pathologist and representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MPI BiH), and the necessary workers and machinery were employed, whereas the members of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior were securing the site.

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR ILLICIT INTERNATIONAL TRAFFICKING IN NARCOTIC DRUGS 

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued an indictment against Radoje Šupić*, born in 1960 in Izgori, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia. This accused person is charged with an illicit transfer of the Cannabis Sativa L narcotic drug across the state borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia, on several occasions in the period from early March to late October 2023, which he was doing as a member of an organized group in order to acquire unlawful property gain and with the intention of further sale of the aforementioned drug in the territories of the aforementioned countries. The accused hid the said narcotic drug in a specially installed compartment of the car he was driving, and the found narcotic drug was confiscated on two occasions during the search conducted by members of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia, as well as by members of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior. This accused person is charged with having committed the criminal offense of Associating for the Purpose of Perpetrating Criminal Offences under Article 249, paragraph 2, in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs under Article 195, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.



INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR ILLICIT TRAFFICKING IN NARCOTIC DRUGS 

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued an indictment against  Istria Alic Tracy *, born in 2002 in Michigan, USA, residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a citizen of the United States of America. This accused person is charged with possession of substances containing narcotic drugs, i.e. the psychotropic substances of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Lisdexamfetamine (Amphetamine derivative), which are on the list of narcotic drugs and precursors whose import and circulation are prohibited in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and which she carried in her luggage upon her arrival from the USA to the Sarajevo Airport International Border Crossing, on 30 December 2025. The aforementioned substances were discovered and confiscated during the border control carried out by police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The accused is charged with unauthorized international transfer of substances that are declared narcotic drugs by the BiH regulation, whereby she committed the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs under Article 195, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
