THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH WELCOMES THE BIGGEST SENTENCE IMPOSED SO FAR IN CORRUPTION CASES
28.11.2023. 15:26After the final judgment of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Boris Kordić et al. case, by which the former employees of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs (SPS) of Bosnia and Herzegovina were sentenced to prison terms for a total of 21 years (12.5 and 8.5 years respectively) and by which the proceeds of crime in the amount of BAM 60,000 are to be confiscated, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina points out that it is only with a stricter criminal policy that judicial institutions and law enforcement agencies can successfully fight against corruption and achieve general prevention to reduce this phenomena in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially when those accused in such cases include officials of top government institutions and authorised officers.
The sentence in the delivered judgment is one of the largest sentences so far for corruption criminal offences pronounced in cases handled by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
