INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR INTERNATIONAL SMUGGLING OF NARCOTICS

05.03.2019. 15:00
Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against PETR HOFIREK (1969) and ROMAN ŠIK (1983), from Brno, Czech Republic, both citizens of the Czech Republic.
  • INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR INTERNATIONAL SMUGGLING OF NARCOTICS

These accused persons have been remanded in custody since 14 December 2018, pursuant to the Decision of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They are charged, as co-perpetrators, to have illegally committed international trafficking in narcotic drugs which were proclaimed narcotic drugs by a valid regulation; they trafficked such narcotic drugs from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Croatia, on 11 December 2018, all for the purpose of acquiring unlawful material gain.

The Indictment alleges that the aforementioned narcotic drugs were smuggled by being hidden among the personal effects and in the baggage, and the drug was discovered and seized during the secondary border check-up of a bus travelling from Sarajevo to Zagreb, which was conducted by officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the International Border Crossing in Gradiška.

The seizure has shown that larger quantities of different types of narcotics and medicaments suitable for the production of narcotic drugs were smuggled, along with the equipment for the consumption of narcotic drugs.

These accused persons are charged with the commission of the criminal offence of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, as referred to in Article 195, Paragraphs 1 and 3 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with Article 29 of the same Code.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
