INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF TERRORISM

Two persons are charged with planning a terrorist attack in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in doing which they were detected and prevented by the Prosecutor’s Office and police agencies.
  • INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF TERRORISM

Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against:

- Maksim Božić, aka Muhamed, born in 1990 in Bijeljina, and

- Edin Hastor, aka Amidža, born in 1972 in Goražde.

These accused persons are charged with the criminal offense of Terrorism, as referred to in Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They are accused of procuring weapons and explosives in contact with other persons, as members of the radical Salafi movement, and planning and preparing the execution of a terrorist attack in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely attack on the building of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and the building of the Tuzla Canton Ministry of the Interior, whereby they would seriously destabilize political and constitutional structures and undermine the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region.

In their intentions, the accused have been detected by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and SIPA, and they have been deprived of liberty, whereby the execution of the said terrorist act was prevented. During the search of the premises they use, several grenades and some automatic weapons were found, as well as assault vests and military equipment.

In the course of the investigation, evidence was found indicating the accused persons’ unlawful activities, aimed at preparing and executing the terrorist act.

These accused persons are charged with procuring and preparing the means of, and undertaking other acts to create conditions for, the execution of the terrorist act, whereby they committed the criminal offense of Terrorism, as referred to in Article 201, Paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The accused persons are being held in custody, whereas the Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is heading the Counter-Terrorism Task Force Group, which brings together representatives of police and security agencies at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Entities and the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of detecting, prosecuting and preventing terrorism-related activities.
