Prosecution of cases in accordance with the highest legal standards, within the jurisdiction of each of the respective institutions as stipulated by law, professionalism, collegiality and independence, will be the basic principles of future cooperation.

Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordana Tadić, has met with the newly elected President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ranko Debevec.

The main topics of the meeting have been the cooperation between the two respective institutions and the forthcoming activities for the period to follow, as well as the increase in the number of cases in the trial phase, namely those pertaining to war crimes, organized crime, terrorism and other crimes, which have been initiated on the basis of the Indictments of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Acting Chief Prosecutor and the President of the Court have noted that conducting activities in accordance with the highest judicial standards prescribed by law, which fall within the jurisdiction of the two respective institutions, as well as mutual respect, collegiality, professionalism and independence of each of the two institutions, will be the basis of mutual cooperation, whereas any difficulties will be overcome by discussion and mutual agreement.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been in existence for fourteen years now, as key judicial institutions at the state level.  

So far, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued Indictments against more than 5,000 persons accused of the criminal offenses which fall within the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cases that have either been completed or are yet to be tried at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and these two institutions are the crucial segment of the rule of law in our country and are very significant in the process of European integrations of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
