  • LARGE QUANTITY OF HEROIN DRUG SEIZED ON THE TERRITORY OF CROATIA, AS PART OF AN INTERNATIONAL CASE CONDUCTED BY BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

The activities were carried out within the international operation led by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina with partner institutions from Croatia and Germany, against persons suspected of international smuggling of large quantities of heavy narcotics (heroin), money laundering and investing in the purchase of weekend cottages and real estate in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

The implemented activities are a continuation of the work on an international cooperation case against a suspected citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who has been under investigation for a longer period of time, and is suspected of repeatedly smuggling larger quantities of the heroin narcotic drug from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Croatia and further to EU countries. The said suspect was deprived of liberty on 13 October in the territory of the Republic of Croatia, where the commission of a criminal offense was documented, whereas in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina a search was carried out on a person closely related to the suspect.

Furthermore, as part of the financial investigation, searches are being conducted and records are being made in relation to the cash flows which are suspected to have been used to purchase several weekend cottages and real estate in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in neighbouring countries.

This operation is the result of a long-term investigation conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and partner institutions and agencies of the Republic of Croatia and the Federal Republic of Germany, aimed at breaking the chain of smuggling large quantities of heavy narcotics.

In the interest of the investigation, further details cannot be provided.
