EXHUMATION AT VOZUĆA SITE CARRIED OUT; MORTAL REMAINS OF SEVERAL PERSONS FOUND

According to the available information, it is presumed that these are mortal remains of the victims of Serb ethnicity, who were killed at Vozuća site, in 1995.
  • EXHUMATION AT VOZUĆA SITE CARRIED OUT; MORTAL REMAINS OF SEVERAL PERSONS FOUND

At the location of Podsjelovo, in the wider area of Vozuća, an exhumation has been carried out, coordinated by an Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, upon the order of the Prosecutor in charge of the case.

During the exhumation, complete mortal remains of three (3) persons and incomplete mortal remains of four (4) persons have been found, which indicates that mortal remains of at least seven (7) persons have been found. 

According to the available information and evidence, those are the victims of Serb ethnicity who were killed at the site in Vozuća, in 1995.

The finding of these mortal remains will significantly contribute to the prosecution of the cases of war crimes committed in the area of Vozuća.

The exhumation has been coordinated by an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whereas the process of exhumation has been carried out with the participation of the representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist, as well as members of the police of Zenica-Doboj Canton Ministry of the Interior and members of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre (BHMAC) and the Civilian Protection Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, respectively.

The mortal remains will be transported to Banjaluka, where expert forensic examination of the found mortal remains will be carried out and victims’ identities will be determined via the DNA analysis.

The exhumation process will be continued in the period to follow.

Almost on a daily basis, officers of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with partner institutions, participate in the processes of exhumations at the locations throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, in search of the mortal remains of the victims from the past war.
