CUSTODY MOTION FILED FOR TWO PERSONS SUSPECTED WITH THE CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS

25.06.2012. 15:37
Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed a motion for custody of the following suspects:
  1. S.D. residing in Brčko District, a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Croatia and
  2. M.G. residing in Sremska Mitrovica, with prior convictions, a citizen of the Republic of Serbia.

The Prosecutor requested custody on grounds stipulated in Article 132, Paragraph 1, Subparagraphs a) b) and c) of the BiH CPC.

Among other things, custody was requested due to risk that the suspects could flee, particularly due to the fact that if released the suspects could leave the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina thus becoming unavailable to the prosecution.

Custody was also requested due to danger that the suspects might interfere with the criminal proceedings by influencing the witnesses.

The aforementioned persons are under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and are suspected of committing the criminal offence of Trafficking in Persons under Article 186, Paragraph 2 in conjunction with Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The suspects were deprived of liberty on June 21, 2012 by authorized police officers and handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH. Following the questioning the Assigned Prosecutor filed a custody motion to the Court of BiH.
