INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF SMUGGLING OF PERSONS
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has filed an indictment against Predrag Polić*, aka ‘Peđa’ and ‘Pećinac’, born in 1989 in Travnik, a citizen of BiH. He is charged with having participated in the smuggling of a group of migrants from Serbia to BiH, across the state border on the Drina River, in the Bratunac area, in the town of Ada on 4 July 2023, together with persons known to him, in which he was discovered and prevented by police officers.
He is charged with having committed the criminal offence of Smuggling of persons set out in Article 189 (1) of the Criminal Code of BiH.
EXHUMATION CARRIED OUT IN THE VICINITY OF PRIJEDOR
At the Mlječanica-Madžikovac site, which is located near the administrative border of the municipalities of Prijedor and Kozarska Dubica, an exhumation process was carried out and the incomplete remains of at least two people were found during it. The remains will be transferred to the Šejkovača Identification Centre in Sanski Most for further forensic medical analysis and taking samples to determine the identity of the missing persons through DNA analysis.
On instructions of the prosecutor in charge, the exhumation process was conducted by an investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a forensic pathologist, necessary workers and machinery, as well as police officers of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Internal Affairs, who secured the site.
CUSTODY MOTION FOR TWO PERSONS IN THE ORGANISED CRIME CASE
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina a motion to order the suspects Elmedin Karišik* aka ‘Medo’, born in 1990, and Radan Dotlić* aka ‘Raša’, born in 1990, into custody.
The custody measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132 (1) (b) and (c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH.
The suspects are under investigation for the crimes of Organised Crime (Article 250) and Obstruction of justice (Article 241) set out in the Criminal Code of BiH and Grave criminal offenses against personal safety and property (Article 328) and Causing public danger (Article 323) set out in the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH. The case involved the cooperation of several police agencies in BiH, including SIPA and the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior, cooperation with the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office, as well as international cooperation with EUROPOL and partner institutions of several countries in the region and the EU.
