The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH visited the State Prosecutor’s Office in Lima, Peru.
The Chief Prosecutor, Milanko Kajganić, met with the State Prosecutor of Peru, Delia Milagros Espinoza Valenzuela, with whom he discussed the establishment of direct contacts between the prosecutor’s offices with the aim of a more efficient fight against organised crime, which is mostly connected with the smuggling of the narcotic drug cocaine from South America to Europe, as well as to the territory of the countries of the Western Balkan region.
For the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, this visit is significant because BiH does not have a single embassy in the territory of Central and South America, which significantly slows down and complicates mutual assistance procedures and, therefore, direct contacts and the use of international instruments allowing cooperation with prosecutorial institutions in this area are necessary.
In addition, in the cases with evidence from the Sky and Anom applications handled by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH a number of suspects who have resided in the territory of South America or are connected to persons in the said territory have been recorded.
The visit was organised with the support of the EUROJUST association and the EL PACCTO 2.0 and WBCJ projects.
