INDICTMENT ISSUED IN HIGH-LEVEL CORRUPTION CASE

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against Osman Mehmedagić*, born in 1962 in Sarajevo, former Director of BiH Intelligence and Security Agency. 

INDICTMENT ISSUED IN HIGH-LEVEL CORRUPTION CASE

The suspect is charged with having performed the function of Director General of ISA BiH, from November 2019 until his dismissal from the position, even though he did not possess a university degree, which is prescribed by law as a condition for performing this function. In order to enable himself to remain in this position, the suspect presented, inter alia, to the competent body for supervision of the work of ISA BiH of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH a diploma from the American University in BiH for the title of Bachelor of International Law, even though he knew that he had never studied at this faculty or obtained any title at this faculty, and that he obtained this diploma in an unknown way.

In this manner, the suspect damaged the reputation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and obtained financial benefits to which he was not entitled in the total amount of BAM 293,046.58 KM, which is the amount of damages caused to the budget of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The indictment proposes confiscation of unlawful property gain.

The suspect is charged with the criminal offense of Abuse of Office or Authority under Article 220, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
