The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milanko Kajganić, met with the newly appointed Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for War Crimes of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Knežević, in Belgrade.
The meeting discussed the cooperation of the two respective prosecutor’s offices which have had significant communication and cooperation in the past period with regards to fighting war crimes impunity, and this cooperation is also being implemented in coordination with the Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) in The Hague.
At the meeting, it was agreed to continue such cooperation in the coming period, because the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Public Prosecutor’s Office for War Crimes of Serbia are working on cases in which international legal assistance and cooperation are necessary and indispensable, in order that the cases can be prosecuted and finalized before the judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
