Skeletal remains have been found at the Staničin Most location in the municipality of Gacko.
After the location of a potential grave was marked, search dogs of the Global Training Center for Detection Dogs of the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) were used to assist in the field search, as these dogs are specially trained to search for human remains in the ground, them being the only dogs trained for this particular purpose.
The found remains will be transferred to the City Cemetery ‘Sutina’ in Mostar, for autopsy, identification and forensic processing.
The exhumation was attended by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosna and Herzegovina, the representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI) of Bosna and Herzegovina and the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), respectively, and the representatives of the Trebinje Police Department of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior, and the necessary workers and machinery were also employed.
