An investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes coordinated the work of authorized officers at the Bare Cemetery in Sarajevo during the re-exhumation of the mortal remains of a missing person from 1992.
Having conducted the DNA analysis, it was determined with high probability that the remains belonged to P.S., a person of Serb ethnicity who had disappeared in the area of Sarajevo, in 1992.
The exhumation was attended by members of the forensic expert’s team, representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as police of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior who secured the location and provided forensic technical support.
Upon the completion of the re-exhumation process, the remains will be transferred to the facilities of the Miljevići Cemetery in East Sarajevo, where further forensic processing and the process of handing over the remains to the victim’s family will be carried out.
