A MEETING WITH US OFFICIALS ON COUNTERTERRORISM HELD AT THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

Chief Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić, the Head of the Counterterrorism Section and an advisor, met with officials of the US State Dapartment’s Bureau of Counterterrorism, led by Kyle Conahan- Regional Advisor for Europe and Eurasia and John Herbst - Team Lead for the Eurasia team. 

The meeting participants discussed the current situation in combating terrorism, activities carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of detection, prosecution and prevention of the threat of terrorism, as well as activities related to terrorism. Efforts in the process of de-radicalization of persons who participated in foreign battlefields were also discussed, as well as activities to prevent possible future departures of BiH citizens to foreign battlefields.

The Chief Prosecutor informed the State Department experts about the efforts and activities of the Counterterrorism Section of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the activities of the Counterterrorism Task Force, which brings together officials from law enforcement agencies from all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is headed by the Chief Prosecutor, in the fight against terrorism and prevention of potential terrorist activities.

It was agreed that communication and cooperation in the fight against the threat of terrorism should continue in the coming period.
