INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST 7 PERSONS FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF GENOCIDE

Prosecutors from the Special Department for War Crimes issued an indictment against the following accused persons: 

INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST 7 PERSONS FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF GENOCIDE

1.  Ratko Vujović AKA Rara, born in 1967 in Bileća
2. Ljubomir Vlačić AKA Buba, born in 1957 in Šekovići
3. Vitomir Pepić AKA Vito, born in 1953 in Kladanj
4. Milovan Ognjenović, born in 1952 in Šekovići
5. Goran Višković AKA Vjetar, born in 1954 in Vlasenica
6. Željko Dupljan AKA Krnjo, born in 1975 in Han Pijesak
7. Vlastimir Golijanin, born in 1974 in Han Pijesak


The accused are charged to have participated , while acting in their capacity as commanders and members of the Military Police of the Drina Corps of the Birač Brigade and the 10th Sabotage Squad operating within the Main Headquarters of the RS Army at the area of Šekovići and Vlasenica municipalities, in  capturing  of Bosniak men and boys who tried to cross over to the territory under the control of the Army of BiH after the fall of the UN protected zone of Srebrenica in the period from 15 July until 23 July 1995, and in their imprisonment in Sušica prison and other facilities, as well as in restraining and transporting them to three locations where they were shot and killed.  Explosive devices were then thrown on the bodies or machines used to remove and bury the bodies.


In the aforementioned manner, 20 victims were shot and killed at the Pola pit site (Hashim’s hole), 39 victims were killed at the Bišina-valey Krajevi site, and 6 victims were killed at the Jarovlje-Piskavica site, including one woman. The bodies of the victims were found, exhumed and identified after the war, hence the identity of all 65 persons killed in these three locations is known.


The accused are charged with knowingly assisting members of a joint criminal enterprise in committing genocide against ethnic Bosniak victims after the fall of the UN protected zone of Srebrenica, thereby committing the criminal offense of Genocide under Article 171 (a) and (b) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.


The Prosecution will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling about 130 witnesses, including 10 witnesses with protective measures, findings and opinions of 14 experts, including international experts, as well as by submitting hundreds of pieces of physical and documentary evidence.
The indictment in this case was prepared in communication and with cooperation with the IRMCT Office of the Prosecutor. The indictment was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
