Acting within his 24-hour on-call duty, the prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH received information from members of the Border Police of BiH that during border control on two occasions, four suspects were discovered in respective attempts to smuggle a total of 74 migrants, including 30 children, in vans and a passenger motor vehicle.

After receiving the information, the prosecutor on duty gave police officers instructions regarding further actions with suspects and migrants.

The suspects were discovered while perpetrating the criminal offence in two separate locations, namely in the area of Komesarac, municipality of Velika Kladuša (71 migrants) and at the international border crossing point Izačić (3 migrants), after which they were apprehended and handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH for further processing, with reports on the criminal offence committed.

After interrogating the suspects, the prosecutor-in-charge of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted motions to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in two separate cases that the following persons be ordered into detention:

-    JAMMEH DIBBA LAMIN, born in 1994 in Santa Coloma (Girona), citizen of Spain,
-    TRAWALEH TRAWALLY ADI, born in 1994 in Mataro-Barcelona, Spain, citizen of Spain, who are suspected of smuggling three illegal migrants, and

-    VEDRAN KAJIĆ, born in Sarajevo in 1987, citizen of the Republic of Croatia, who is charged with having smuggled 71 migrants, together with one other suspect.

The detention measure was proposed due to the risk that the suspects would flee, as after leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina they would become unavailable to the judicial authorities.

In respect of the suspect DRAGAN PERAK, born in 2002 in Nova Bila, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the prosecutor-in-charge proposed the imposition of the prohibition measures set out in Article 126 (2) and 126a (1) (c) and (d) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, i.e. the measure of prohibition of leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina, occasional  reporting to an appropriate state authority, as well as prohibition of meeting with other suspects and witnesses in this case of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Border Police, together with their partner agencies, undertake activities in the prosecution of criminal offences related to illegal migrations in Bosnia and Herzegovina almost on a daily basis.
