CUSTODY PROPOSED AGAINST CITIZEN OF BIH AND REPUBLIC OF CROATIA SUSPECTED OF ILLICIT TRAFFICKING IN NARCOTIC DRUGS

The suspect Tomislav Martić, born in 1982, who resides in Zagreb, was deprived of his liberty when police officers inspected the car he drove and seized about half a kilogram of the cocaine narcotic drug found in hidden places in the trunk of the vehicle.

The suspect is accused of illegally smuggling the said narcotic drug from the Republic of Croatia to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the purpose of putting it into international circulation.

Having questioned the suspect, the prosecutor in charge of the case put forward a Motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina seeking custody for the reasons set forth in Article 132, paragraph 1, items a) and b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, due to the risk of the suspect’s flight, as he is the citizen of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia and has his residence registered in the Republic of Croatia, as well as due to the danger that, if at large, the suspect may hinder the investigation, conceal evidence or influence witnesses or accomplices.
