The US Department of Justice announced that the defendant Mirsad Kandić (1981) was sentenced to life imprisonment.
The defendant Kandić, who had been searched for by judicial institutions for a long time, was deprived of liberty in 2017, during his very short stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina, when he was located and deprived of liberty in Sarajevo in the course of a joint action of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SIPA, OSA and other partner institutions.
Shortly after his arrest, the suspect Kandić, who was born in Peja in 1981 and is not a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was handed over to the judicial authorities of the United States of America, where he was subsequently prosecuted as a high-ranking member of the so-called "ISIS".
As part of the anti-terrorist coalition, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Section for Terrorism participate actively in international anti-terrorism operations, together with its partner institutions from countries around the world.
