CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE BH JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION

Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutors Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milanko Kajganić, met with the officials of the BH Journalists Association, Borka Rudić, Marko Divković and Fuad Kovačević, who presented a list of data they had collected on journalists, i.e. media workers, a total of 80 of those who were killed during the war in BiH from 1992 to 1995.

Given that the Special Department for War Crimes prosecutes cases of war crimes and violations of international humanitarian law, this list of data that has been handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, can be useful a useful input for the work on war crimes cases handled by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

Available data and information has been collected for some killings of journalists, while for some murders and killings, there is almost no available information, and hence the association will continue to collect information and evidence, which it will hand over to law enforcement agencies.

The Chief Prosecutor thanked the representatives of the Association for their cooperation and assistance to law enforcement agencies and institutions, because all information about wartime events is useful material for work on war crimes cases.

The representatives of the Association were informed that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has recently designated a Prosecutor as the point of contact in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH for the safety of journalists. The individual will be the contact person for communication and coordination with journalist associations and law enforcement agencies, which work on detection and prosecution of perpetrators of criminal offenses committed to the detriment of persons holding jobs of public importance in the field of information.
