CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH OFFICIALS OF THE BUREAU OF COUNTERTERRORISM WITHIN THE US DEPARTMENT OF STATE

Chief Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić, together with the Head of the Terrorism Section - Prosecutor Ivana Petković and an associate, met with Ms Hillary Batjer Johnson Principal Deputy Coordinator in the Bureau of Counterterrorism at the U.S. Department of State, as well as officials in this field and experts engaged in the fight against terrorism.

The Chief Prosecutor and representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH informed the visitors about the work and activities of the Terrorism Section in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, including the achieved results and efforts invested by the Counterterrorism Task Force, which gathers officials of institutions and law enforcement agencies from all levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is headed by the Chief Prosecutor.

US Officials were informed about the activities carried out in the prosecution of indictees for participation in the foreign battlefields of Syria and Iraq, the activities carried out in the direction of the de-radicalization of the aforementioned persons and persons close to them, as well as the return and prosecution of the remaining citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who are still in that area.

The activities of the Prosecutor’s Office and partner institutions in identifying and prosecuting BiH citizens, for whom there is knowledge and evidence of participating in conflicts on the territory of Ukraine, were highlighted.

The BiH Prosecutor’s Office and partner institutions of the United States have active and good cooperation in the prosecution of terrorism cases and the threat of terrorism and radicalism, especially in the area where international cooperation was needed and which are particularly harmful to the safety of citizens and the rule of law.

Intensive cooperation in the fight against terrorism and prevention of terrorist activity threats will continue in the future.
