INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF GENOCIDE

A Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes issued an indictment against Miomir Jasikovac, born in 1968 in Zvornik, living in Novi Sad, citizen of the Republic of Serbia.  

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF GENOCIDE

 The accused is charged with having participated in a joint criminal enterprise in his capacity as the commander of the Military Police Company of the Zvornik Brigade of the RS Army, where in the period from 13 July until 15 July 1995, together with members of the Military Police to whom he was superior, he went to locations where a large number of ethnic Bosniak men and boys from the area of Srebrenica were detained and where members of the Military Police took part in the detention, transportation, shooting and killing of the victims.

The indictment states that the accused, as well as members of the Military Police subordinate to him, took part in the detention, transportation to the shooting sites, as well as the killings of detainees in locations near the school in Orahovac, where more than 800 victims were shot, the barracks in Petkovci, where more than 700 victims and the location of the gravel pit in Kozluk, where more than 800 victims were shot.

 

According to the charges, the Prosecution will provide evidence by calling 83 public witnesses, 16 witnesses with protective measures, including witnesses who testified in the proceedings at the ICTY / IRMCT, the testimony of several experts, including international experts who participated in the discovery of mass graves , documents and materials obtained in cooperation with the ICTY/IRMCT, and by submitting more than 250 material pieces of evidence.

 

The accused is charged with having committed the criminal offense of Genocide under Article 171, points a) and b) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
