A working meeting of prosecutors working on war crimes cases in the BiH Prosecutor’s Office and the OWCP of the Republic of Serbia held in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH. Within the framework of the meeting, an Agreement of Understanding was signed in the area of support for witnesses, injured parties and victims with regards to their participation in criminal proceedings for war crimes. The Agreement was signed by the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milanko Kajganić, and the War Crimes Prosecutor of the Republic of Serbia, Snežana Stanojković.
This agreement will strive to facilitate participation of victims and witnesses in court proceedings and will also enable faster and more direct cooperation between the two judicial institutions, especially in the area of coordination of activities related to witnesses and victims, which are an indispensable part of all court proceedings in war crimes cases, since in many cases witnesses and victims can be located in any of the two countries. The agreement will facilitate communication with witnesses, organization of their testimony, as well as other activities that are directly related to injured persons in war crimes cases. During the visit and working meeting of the prosecutors, the parties will discuss help and assistance in cases in which the two prosecutor’s offices are already communicating and cooperating.
