After they were handed over to the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the Assigned Prosecutor questioned the suspects in the presence of their attorneys, and submitted a motion for remand in custody to the Court of BiH for all 5 suspects.
Motion for remand in custody was filed for the suspects:
1. Suvad Halilović, born in 1954, Bosanski Novi / Novi Grad2. Emir Vakufac, born in 1970, Bosanski Novi / Novi Grad
3. Ramiz Hamzagić, born in 1967, Bosanski Novi / Novi Grad
4. Ismet Džafić, born in 1958, Bosanski Novi / Novi Grad
5. Ismet Mehinović, born in 1970, Bosanski Novi / Novi Grad
The measure of remand in custody is necessary due to the continuation of the investigative activities of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office and partner police agencies, regarding all the circumstances of the commission of criminal offenses related to the delivery of a large amount of completed ballots to the polling station. Through a thorough investigation by the prosecutor’s office and police agencies, efforts will be made to identify all persons associated with this criminal offense, as well as the organizers and orderers of these illegal activities.
Namely, there is a risk that if the suspects remain free, they could hinder the investigation, conceal evidence and exert influence on witnesses or accomplices.
The aforementioned suspects are under investigation for the criminal offenses: Electoral Fraud under Article 154 of the CC BiH and Violation of Electoral Rights under Article 150 of the CC BiH.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, in communication with the CEC of BiH, undertakes activities to ensure the conditions necessary for maintaining a legal election process at the said polling station.
