BY ORDER OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH AN EXHUMATION COMPLETED AT THE LOCATION OF KACELJ IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF FOČA

Pursuant to the order of the Assigned Prosecutor a legal officer of the Special Department for War Crimes coordinated the work of authorized officials on the exhumation/sanitization of the terrain and the search for the remains of victims from the past war, in the locality of Kacelj in the vicinity of Ustikolina - municipality of Foča. 

During the exhumation, incomplete remains of at least one person were found, and were sent for further forensic processing and identification through DNA analysis. 

 

The activities were carried out in joint cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federation Civil Protection Department, and the exhumation was carried out in an extremely inaccessible location that had previously been demined. 

 

An investigator from the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a doctor - forensic medicine specialist, workers using adequate machinery, as well as police officers of the Bosnia Podrinje Canton Goražde participated in the process of search for and exhumation of the remains.
