Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milanko Kajganić and Prosecutor Suada Pašić, met with the representatives of the Embassy of the United States of America, Ms. Natalija Šušak, the human rights officer of the US Embassy, Mr. Frank Bradsher, Resident Legal Advisor of the US Department of Justice’s Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (US DoJ/OPDAT), as well as their associates.
The meeting parties discussed the work of the Task Force for the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration, as well as the informal network of prosecutors and investigators in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fight against human trafficking, The officials of the US Embassy informed the Acting Chief Prosecutor Kajganić that the US State Department published the Report on Human Trafficking for this year, which qualifies the status of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fight against these crimes.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its Section for Combating Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration handle a large number of cases, in which regional and international cooperation is implemented in the fight against this type of criminal offenses, and joint international operations were carried out this year with the aim of prosecuting the identified perpetrators of these crimes.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Task Force will continue with the implementation of the recommendations from the Report.
Acting Chief Prosecutor Kajganić, thanked the U.S. officials for the help and support provided by the US government to the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, law enforcement agencies and the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
