BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE AND BORDER POLICE ARE CARRYING OUT AN OPERATION TO COMBAT ORGANIZED MIGRANT SMUGGLING
07.07.2022. 09:14Assigned Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption has been coordinating the activities of police officers of the BiH Border Police since morning while they were conducting searches at eight locations that can be linked with a larger number of suspected persons. Searches are carried out in the area of Tuzla, Zvornik, Brčko District of BiH and Konjic.
During the course of investigation in the operation Insider, evidence was gathered that members of an organized criminal group have, over a long period of time, contacted members of the migrant population, who reside illegally in Bosnia and Herzegovina and have, for monetary compensation, concealed, organized, transported and smuggled illegal migrants towards the territory of the Republic of Croatia and further towards EU countries.
By committing these criminal offences, the suspects obtained a substantial financial gain and affected the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the criminal offences related to illegal migration.The suspects are charged with the criminal offenses of Associating to Commit Criminal Offenses and Smuggling of Persons. Following the completion of investigative activities and searches, the Assigned Prosecutor will give instructions on further activities towards the suspects.
