ACTING CHIEF PROSECUTOR HELD A MEETING WITH OFFICIALS OF THE CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION DEDICATED TO ENSURING THE LEGALITY AND SECURITY OF THE ELECTION PROCESS.

 A meeting was held In the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina between Acting Chief Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić, his deputy, Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the delegation of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, headed by President Suad Arnautović.

ACTING CHIEF PROSECUTOR HELD A MEETING WITH OFFICIALS OF THE CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION DEDICATED TO ENSURING THE LEGALITY AND SECURITY OF THE ELECTION PROCESS.

 The central topics of the meeting were related to the legality and security of the upcoming election process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The officials of the two institutions pointed out that they will be monitoring all phenomena and events that may indicate possible threats and illegal activities in connection with the election process, both in the phase of applications and ongoing preparations for the upcoming General Elections, as well as in the continuation of the process in the coming period when intensive election campaigns are expected as well as the election process itself on 2 October 2022.

Acting Chief Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić pointed out that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will provide full support to ensuring the legality and security of the election process, in all segments within its competence, as well as that, in cooperation with partner institutions and law enforcement agencies, arrangements and necessary preparatory activities are already being carried out.

He pointed out that he will insist on the establishment of mechanisms that will ensure citizens and entities participating in the electoral process quick reporting on any illegalities in connection with the electoral process, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. Those rapid response mechanisms will be agreed on with partner institutions as well as documenting any illegalities and possible criminal offenses related to the electoral process.

It was pointed out at the meeting that the CEC of BiH and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will work together to prevent and eliminate all potential threats to the electoral process, and also establish mechanisms that will lead to efficient documentation and prosecution of perpetrators of criminal offences, if recorded.
