Having questioned Dragan Šojić, born in 1961 in Šabac, in the presence of his attorney, who is a suspect in a high-corruption case, the assigned Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina put forward a motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking that a measure of 30-day custody be ordered in respect of the aforementioned suspect.

CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR DIRECTOR OF SERVICE FOR JOINT AFFAIRS OF BIH INSTITUTIONS

Intensive investigation in this case continues, and custody has been proposed for reasons as stipulated in Article 132, paragraph 1, items a) and b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Custody has been proposed due to the risk of flight because the suspect has the citizenship of a neighbouring country, where he often travels and resides.

The measure of custody has also been proposed due to the danger that, if at large, the suspect might hinder the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices, in view of he fact that he is an authorized and official person of the respective institution, and evidence  collected during the investigation indicated that the suspect had already been exerting pressure on his subordinate employees to make illegal changes to certain documents.

The proposal for ordering a measure of custody has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
