ON ORDER OF BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE, OPERATION CODENAMED “WEST” UNDERWAY TO FIGHT ORGANIZED CRIME AND MIGRANT SMUGGLING

Acting on orders of a Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina are conducting searches of buildings and vehicles in several cities, mostly in the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Brčko and Modriča and other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and depriving suspects of liberty.

These activities are aimed at twelve (12) suspects who have been under investigation for several months due to the criminal offenses of organized crime and smuggling of migrants from the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Croatia and EU countries.

The collected evidence indicates that these suspects, acting in an organized manner and through interconnected actions and activities, smuggled a larger number of illegal migrants who were staying illegally in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for whom they organized illegal transport and smuggling to the Republic of Croatia and further to EU countries and received monetary compensation.

During the search, a larger quantity of weapons and ammunition was found, the purchase and possession of which is not allowed to our citizens.

After all investigative actions have been carried out, the assigned Prosecutor will decide on further activities in this case.
