MORTAL REMAINS FOUND AT EXHUMATION IN VLASENICA

Upon an order issued by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, exhumation is underway at the site of Rača, Vlasenica Municipality, and mortal remains of one person have been found.

An Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is present at the site, leading the exhumation process under the supervision of the Prosecutor in charge of the case. Present at the site are also a forensic pathologist and representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as necessary workers and mechanization, whereas police officers of the Vlasenica Police Station are securing the site and conducting crime investigation activities.

The remains will be transported to the Tuzla Commemorative Center for further anthropological processing, and bone samples will also be taken there in order to determine the victim’s identity by way of the DNA analysis.
