Upon an order issued by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, exhumation is underway at the site of the village of Alihodžići near Vlasenica, and mortal remains of two persons have been found.
The discovery of this site with mortal remains is the result of joint and coordinated work of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and SIPA on a war crimes case.
An Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is present at the site, leading the exhumation process under the supervision of the Prosecutor in charge of the case. Present at the site are also a forensic pathologist, representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina and representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as SIPA police officers and necessary workers and mechanization, whereas police officers of the Vlasenica Police Station are securing the site and conducting crime investigation activities. The remains will be transported to the Tuzla Commemorative Center for further anthropological processing, and bone samples will also be taken there in order to determine the victims’ identities by way of the DNA analysis.
