INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR ILLICIT TRADE IN EXCISE PRODUCTS

A Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has filed an indictment against:

- RIFAT MUJDANOVIĆ, born in 1984 in Brčko, citizen of BiH, and

- SANELA MUJDANOVIĆ, born in 1984 in Brčko, citizen of BiH.

The allegations against the accused spouses are that they, in the period from February 2019 to 7 July 2020, in the area of Brčko, in order to acquire illegal property gain and avoid paying excise duties, illegally placed on the market a large amount of excise goods - tobacco, tobacco products and cigarettes that were not marked with excise stamps of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the indictment, during the mentioned period, the accused procured cut tobacco in the amount of several hundred kilos from persons known to them and then sold it to customers at a higher price on several occasions. During the search of the point of sale used by the accused, a large quantity of cigarettes and tobacco without appropriate control and supervision stamps of Bosnia and Herzegovina was found and seized.

The accused are charged with having committed the continued criminal offence of Illicit Trade in Excise Products under Article 210a (1) in conjunction with Article 29 and 54 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
