The found mortal remains will be sent for further forensic processing and identification by way of DNA analysis.
An investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes is present at the Osinja site in the area of Derventa, where she coordinates the work of authorized officers in the process of exhumation of the mortal remains of one person.
The site is also attended by the representatives of the State Investigation and Protection Agency – SIPA, representatives of the BiH Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI), a forensic pathologist, as well as necessary workers and mechanization, whereas police officers of the Derventa Police Station are securing the location.
The found and exhumed mortal remains will be sent for further processing and identification, with the aim of establishing the missing person’s identity.
According to the preliminary information, this is a person of Croatian ethnicity, who had been buried at the said location.
In this case, information and knowledge about the site containing these remains were obtained through joint and coordinated work of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SIPA and other partner institutions and agencies.
Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina participate in the processes of conducting exhumations and searches for missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
