The exhumation was carried out after mortal remains had been noticed in that settlement during agricultural works. Subsequently, the site was secured until the commencement of the exhumation.

An investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was present at the site, who led the exhumation process under the supervision of the prosecutor assigned to the case and with the participation of the officers of the Missing Persons’ Institute (BiH MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whereas police officers of the Vlasenica Police Station were securing the exhumation site.

The mortal remains will be transported to the Tuzla Commemorative Center, for further anthropological processing and sampling to determine the identity of the person via the DNA analysis.

Almost on a daily basis, investigators and professional staff of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina participate in exhumations and searches for missing persons at locations throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
