DUTY PROSECUTOR COORDINATES SEIZURE OF LARGER QUANTITY OF CIGARETTES WITH ESTIMATED VALUE OF MORE THAN 70,000 BAM

After being contacted by police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina in connection with the seizure of a larger quantity of cigarettes, namely 13,470 packs of cigarettes found in a vehicle at the border crossing near Trebinje without the necessary documentation and valid BiH excise stamps, the duty Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina gave instructions for the seizure of the said vehicle and the found cigarettes, and he also gave further instructions to police officers to document this criminal offence.

An investigation has been launched against the suspected persons for the criminal offence of Smuggling of Goods.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with its partner police institutions and law enforcement agencies, is undertaking intensive activities in the fight against the illegal tobacco market in Bosnia and Herzegovina that causes great damage to the budget and to all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
