The accused is charged with the smuggling of illegal migrants who did not meet the conditions for a legal stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which he did in order to acquire unlawful material gain.
A Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against the following person:
- ALAN DURAKOVIĆ, born in 1997 in Bihać, with prior convictions, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The accused is charged with making contact with illegal migrants in the area of Bihać and with subsequently arranging the transportation of the smuggled persons, citizens of Egypt and Syria, for an agreed sum of money, through the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, from the direction of Bihać, which he did in order to acquire unlawful material gain.
The Indictment alleges that the aforementioned accused person transported illegal migrants, initially a group of five smuggled persons, and shortly afterwards another group of seven smuggled persons as well, towards a border of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Those persons had previously entered Bosnia and Herzegovina illegally and their final destination was the territory of EU countries.
The accused was detected and prevented from the commission of the said criminal offence in the immediate vicinity of the border, by the police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina deployed at the Izačić Border Crossing, whereas another group of seven smuggled persons was found in the vehicle and their smuggling was also prevented.
The aforementioned accused person is charged with the commission of the criminal offence of Smuggling of Persons, referred to in Article 189, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
