Following information about the smuggling of a large quantity of cigarettes, the on-duty prosecutor instructed the Border Police to further investigate and document the criminal offence.
The duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH was informed by the BiH Border Police that a large quantity of cigarettes, 17,550 boxes, without appropriate excise stamps, with an estimated market value of around BAM 95,000, was found at the Gornji Lipnik site, Gacko municipality.
After receiving the information, the prosecutor instructed police officers on further investigative activities to document and prosecute this criminal offence.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, together with the Border Police and other partner police and security agencies, is undertaking several activities to detect and prevent criminal offences of smuggling and illicit trafficking in excise products, as criminal offences that damage the budget and financial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
