After the exhumation, the identity of the missing person will be determined through further forensic processing and the DNA analysis.
Acting upon an order of the prosecutor in charge of the case, an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was present at the site in Gavrići near Doboj, where he coordinated the work of authorized official persons who participated in the exhumation process.
Mortal remains of one person were found at this site and, according to the information available, it is presumed that they belong to a victim who died in 1992.
After the exhumation, the remains will be sent for further forensic processing and identification through the DNA analysis.
The exhumation site was attended by a forensic pathologist, representatives of the State Investigation and Protection Agency-SIPA, representatives of the Missing Persons’ Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, necessary workers and machinery, and the location was secured by the police officers from the Doboj Police Station.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with its with partner institutions, conducts exhumations and searches for missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
