Having questioned the suspects, Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of this case has put forward a motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking custody for the suspects who had been deprived of liberty on account of the war crimes committed against civilian population and prisoners of war of Serb ethnicity in the area of Zvornik and its surroundings, in the period from 8 October 1992 to 6 July 1994.
The measure of custody has been proposed for reasons as stipulated in Article 132, item b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely, due to the danger that, if at large, the suspects might hinder the inquiry, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accessories.
The aforementioned suspects are charged with the criminal offences of War Crime against Civilian Population, referred to in Article 142, and War Crime against Prisoners of War, referred to in Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The motion for custody has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
