The topics discussed at the meeting were the efforts on prosecution of war crimes cases, exhumation processes and search for missing persons.
The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordana Tadić, and her associates met with the Head of the Office of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) in Sarajevo, Mr. Zbignew Wojdyla, and the Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross BiH, Elmir Camić.
The meeting parties discussed the work and cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the above institutions, in the prosecution of war crimes cases, and primarily in the process of search and identification of missing persons.
Chief Prosecutor Tadić informed the participants of the meeting that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Special Department for War Crimes are, despite the objective operational difficulties caused by the Covid 19 pandemic, making great efforts to implement as many operative and investigative activities within this department as possible aiming to achieve the best possible results this year.
She also pointed out that investigators and professional staff of the SWCD go to exhumation processes almost every day in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina despite the difficulties and limitations due to the pandemic , and that in the past few months long-sought victims were found .
In these processes, the assistance and support provided to the prosecution by international institutions such as the IRMCT and the ICRC is certainly significant.
It was concluded at the meeting that good cooperation between these partner institutions will continue in the coming period with the aim of strengthening the rule of law and finding missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
