After interviewing the suspects, the case prosecutor of the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH sent a motion to the Court of BiH to order custody for the three suspects.
The measure of custody against the suspects was proposed for the reasons provided for in Article 132 (1), (b) and (c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, i.e. due to the well-founded fear that, if released, they could destroy, hide, alter or falsify evidence or leads important for the criminal proceedings, as well as that by remaining at large they could repeat the criminal offence.
The suspects are under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and are suspected of committing criminal offences of association for the purpose of committing criminal offences under Article 249 of the BiH Criminal Code, in conjunction with the criminal offences of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189 and Smuggling of Goods under Article 214 of the BiH Criminal Code.
The mentioned persons were deprived of liberty in an operation codenamed “Boat”, which was carried out on an order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in several cities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the operation, the buildings were searched at several locations, and the items used to commit the criminal offences were found and temporarily seized.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is continuing its intensive work on the case.
