COLLEGIUM OF PROSECUTORS FROM SPECIAL WAR CRIMES DEPARTMENT HELD IN BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

Chief Prosecutor Gordana Tadić has called for additional efforts and engagement of Prosecutors and staff of the Special Department for War Crimes, with the aim of achieving the best possible results in this Department, despite the limitations, restrictions and difficulties caused by the Covid- 19 pandemic.

The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordana Tadić, has held a Collegium of Prosecutors from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the meeting, it was pointed out that the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, namely the restriction of movement and travel and ban on gatherings of several persons, had caused the greatest difficulties in investigations and in the work on the cases of this Department.

Nevertheless, Prosecutors and employees of the Special Department for War Crimes have invested additional efforts into carrying out as many investigative and exhumation activities and witness hearings and collecting as much evidence as possible, so that, at the end of the year, the results of the work of this Department and of the entire Prosecutor’s Office could be rounded out, in the complex working conditions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Chief Prosecutor pointed out that, in the coming period and in accordance with the Revised War Crimes Strategy and the Implementation of the Recommendations from the Progress Report made by Judge Joanna Korner, all judicial institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and not only the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, would be expected to focus on completing as many cases as possible.
