A Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption has issued an Indictment against four (4) persons charged with organized crime and international smuggling of large quantities of the ‘skunk’ marijuana narcotic drug from the territory of Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and further to the territory of the Republic of Croatia and the European Union.
These accused persons are charged with acting as an organized criminal group for the purpose of acquiring unlawful material gain, in the period from 2018 to 30 January 2019, and organizing and carrying out several truck transports of the ‘skunk’ marijuana narcotic drug, whose value on the illegal drug market in Bosnia and Herzegovina reaches the amount of at least 1000 EUR per kilogram.
On several occasions, in mutual agreement and in agreement with other persons, the aforementioned accused persons repackaged and hid large quantities of narcotics in the cargo spaces of a cargo motor vehicle, and then they smuggled the thus hidden narcotics from Bosnia and Herzegovina and further to the EU countries, for previously agreed sums of money.
They would hide the smuggled narcotics at various locations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which they would negotiate its further sale, delivery and takeover.
On two occasions, the total amount of about 761 kilograms of smuggled narcotics was detected in the course of police activities and the narcotics were seized from the perpetrators, which makes it one of the largest seizures of narcotics in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past period.
The accused persons are as follows:
-F.G. (1947), D.S. (1990), A.V. (1981) and M.B. (1981).
The Prosecutor’s Office, together with all the authorized police agencies, will continue its decisive fight against organized drug crime structures in the future, in order to establish the rule of law and a safer living environment for all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Indictment and its supporting evidentiary material have been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
