A total of six suspects were deprived of liberty, and searches were carried out at four locations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Unlawful property gain acquired though the crimes committed is estimated at more than BAM 2 million.
At the request of a Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, SIPA police officers have deprived of liberty and searched suspects as part of the “Sky” action.
These activities are a continuation of operations aimed at detecting and dismantling of the skunk marijuana smuggling chains, from Albania through Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina and to EU countries. These activities were carried out in the past months as part of the “Petrol Line” operation, “24”operation and “24+” operation., in which individual seizures of hundreds of kilograms of narcotic drugs were made in East Sarajevo (Krupac) and at the Gradiška and Gabela border crossings near Čapljina. These narcotic drugs were intended for the narcotics market of the EU countries, and their value in the illegal market reaches millions of dollars.
As part of the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its partner law enforcement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and countries in the region, the smuggling of large quantities of the skunk marijuana narcotic drug, mostly transported by trucks, has been documented and followed by the interception and seizure of more than 2.5 tons of narcotic drugs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Unlawful property gain, which the aforementioned suspects have acquired by smuggling, is estimated to exceed BAM 2 million.
These activities, which are the result of good cooperation of the institutions within Bosnia and Herzegovina and efficient international cooperation, have dealt a serious blow to drug-mafia structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region.
Today’s activities represent the final activities of the operations carried out, after which the activities will be focused on issuing indictments against the suspects deprived of liberty.
