In Sejfići, in the village of Jošanica, Zvornik Municipality, exhumation of mortal remains of one person has been carried out.
Incomplete mortal remains have been found, and the identity of the victim whose mortal remains have been found will be determined by the subsequent procedure. Mortal remains were then transported to the premises of the Commemorative Center in Tuzla, Public Utilities Enterprise, where further forensic and crime investigation processing will be performed and bone samples will be taken for the DNA analysis aimed at determining the victim’s identity.
The exhumation and work of authorized officials were coordinated by an Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whereas representatives of the BiH Missing Persons Institute and International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) were present at the exhumation site, together with an expert forensic pathologist and officers of the Crime Police from the Police Department in Zvornik. Necessary workers and adequate mechanization were employed in the exhumation process.
Almost on a daily basis, employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina participate in finding mortal remains and exhuming victims of war crimes throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
