Acting under the supervision of prosecutor from the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, SIPA police officers in cooperation with the RS Ministry of Interior – East Sarajevo Police Department intercepted a truck with Montenegro registration plates and seized around 900 kilos of the narcotic drug marijuana ‘skunk’.
The operation was carried out in the early morning hours when two trucks with trailers and one passenger motor vehicle were stopped at Krupac in East Sarajevo.
The stopped vehicles were searched and a large quantity of narcotic drug marijuana ‘skunk’ packed in several different packages was found in one truck. According to preliminary estimates, 900 kilos of narcotics were seized, which is the largest quantity ever seized in BiH.
The narcotic drug was intended for the illegal drug market in BiH and the value of seized drug on the illegal market in BiH is estimated to exceed KM (BAM) 2 million, while its price on the illegal market in EU countries is several times higher.
During the operation, five suspects, Montenegrin citizens, were apprehended and they will be handed over to the case prosecutor who will, after questioning the suspects, decide on further activities in the case.
The suspects are under investigation for the criminal offences of Organised Crime (Article 250 of the Criminal Code of BiH) and Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs (Article 195 of the Criminal Code of BiH).
During the operation, exceptional coordination and cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the police agencies that participated in the operation was achieved.
