Mortal remains were found at the site, after which the site was secured by the police and the exhumation started under the supervision of an investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
At the Zmajevac site, Stari Grad Municipality, an exhumation supervised and coordinated by the investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has been underway from early morning hours.
Mortal remains were found during works at the said location, after which the site was secured by the police so that the process of exhuming and identifying the persons to whom the mentioned mortal remains belong could be carried out.
After a preliminary examination, the forensic expert witness confirmed that those were bone fragments of the body of a younger person.
For now, there is no information or indications about the possible identity of the persons whose remains were found and their identity will be determined in a further procedure, during autopsy and through DNA analysis.
The forensic expert witness, a representative of the Institute for Missing Persons of BiH, workers hired to excavate mortal remains, as well as police officers of the Sarajevo Canton MoI who secured the site, took part in the exhumation process.
The exhumation process was coordinated and supervised by the investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes.
