The central topics of the meeting were the upcoming elections, as well as compliance with the legislation and regulations governing the election process.
Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, Gordana Tadić, met with the representatives of the OSCE Election Observation Mission tasked with monitoring the upcoming elections in BiH.
Ms. Elissavet Karagiannidou, representative of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission and the Acting Chief Prosecutor discussed the upcoming election process in BiH, which will be monitored by the OSCE Mission in terms of compliance with the OSCE’s democratic standards, BiH legislation concerning the election related legal framework, the work of electoral administration, campaign financing, media reporting and election campaigns.
Acting Chief Prosecutor informed the OSCE representative that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is , within its legal jurisdiction, also tasked with prosecuting criminal offenses related to violation of the electoral process, and that within its competencies and together with law enforcement agencies it will monitor the legality of the entire process and sanction and prosecute any possible violations of the laws related to the electoral process.
The meeting participants agreed that the institutions of BiH as well as the relevant institutions of the international community have to invest joint efforts in order to fully ensure the legality, rule of law and security of the election process for the upcoming elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
